German concern left the Nord Stream 2 project

The German concern Bilfinger SE left the Nord Stream 2 project due to the threat of US sanctions, which may be introduced in a few weeks, Nikvesti reports.

Bilfinger SE is registered in Mannheim as an industrial service provider affiliated with SDAX with an annual turnover of €4.3 billion in 2019.

Bilfinger has signed several contracts with Nord Stream 2 AG including "for the development, supply and commissioning of safety systems during gas pipeline operation.” Order volume: 15 million euros.

Besides, Bilfinger signed a contract with the Russians “for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 90 MW + 30 MW natural gas thermal power plant” at the German pipeline exit point in Lubmin.

Bilfinger informed the US that it would adhere to the European Energy Security Protection Act (PEESCA) provisions and all partnerships and contracts with Nord Stream 2 were being severed.

To recap, the largest Swiss insurance company left the Nord Stream 2 project.

As reported, Gazprom may refuse to continue construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
