NEURC transferred the authority to regulate the activities of heat supply enterprises from the state to the local level

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, at its meeting on July 7, in pursuance of the government's initiatives and supporting the respective positions of the Ministry of Regional Development, local authorities, associations and public organizations on the decentralization of the conditions for carrying out economic activities in the field of heat supply,” the press service reports.

In particular, the state regulation of 28 business entities engaged in the production, transportation and supply of heat energy is transferred to the local level. Thus, local authorities will set tariffs and approve development plans for such licensees.

“At the same time, the Regulator will carry out methodological work and methodological assistance on issues of state regulation of heat supply enterprises, the regulation of which will take place at the local level and continue to provide legal support for their activities,” said Chairman of NEURC Valerii Tarasiuk.

To recap, in June this year, NEURC announced the implementation of a program to transfer powers to regulate the activities of heat supply enterprises to the local level.
