Nord Stream 2 AG: last pipe has been welded

The operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Nord Stream 2 AG, announced the completion of the pipeline welding, Evropeyska Pravda reports.

According to the company, the last pipe of the gas pipeline has been welded.

According to Nord Stream 2 AG, the pipe will be lowered to the seabed in German waters. The purpose of the operation is to connect a section of the pipeline running off the coast of Germany with a section that comes from Danish waters, followed by the "necessary measures before the launch".

The company expects to launch the gas pipeline by the end of the year.

In the future, this gas pipeline with a total length of more than 1.2 thousand kilometres will enable the supply of Russian natural gas directly to Germany on a much larger scale than before.

To recap, the Pentagon has banned US bases in Europe from buying energy resources from the Russian Federation.

As reported, Nord Stream 2 lost the case on the exemption from the requirements of the EU Gas Directive.
