Poland stores 400 million cubic meters of gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities

Poland has accumulated 400 million cubic meters of gas in Ukrainian underground gas storages. This was stated by Vice President of the Polish state oil and gas company PGNiG Maciej Wozniak, reports BusinessCensor.

“Never before the countries of Central-Eastern Europe had gas storages 100% full, in the German market this was usually 60%. Europe is waiting for a crisis that can be caused by a supplier from the east”, Wozniak said.

The head of PGNiG noted that Poland plans to have an additional reserve of more than 500 million cubic meters of gas. At the same time, the country accumulated 400 million cubic meters of gas in the storage facilities of Ukraine.

Recall that foreign companies pumped 840 million cubic meters of gas into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities. Europe also pumped 100 billion cubic meters of gas into its underground storage facilities.

It was previously reported that Poland will not extend the gas contract with Gazprom after 2022.
