SoLR will automatically supply natural gas to heat producers – NEURC's decision
The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission has made a decision to ensure an uninterrupted supply of natural gas to heat producers in the conditions of market opening, the press service reported.
The adopted decision envisages automatic deliveries of natural gas by the supplier of last resort (FP) to heat energy producers in conditions when:
- the heat energy producer was left without a supplier;
- the current supplier does not have a confirmed nomination for the needs of the heat energy producer.
The regulator's decision comes into force on 01.08.2021.
NEURC noted that in the conditions of the opening of a full-fledged competitive gas market, making such a decision is extremely important, especially during the heating season so that consumers are not left without heat.
“This is a very important decision aimed at protecting consumer rights. After its adoption, all consumers will always be provided with heat, even if the enterprises of district heating companies for some reason (there is no gas supplier, etc.) do not receive natural gas, then the state-owned NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine automatically becomes its supplier. Therefore, all consumers in the country will be provided with heat,” Head of NEURC Valerii Tarasiuk stressed.
To recap, the price of natural gas for the customers of the SoLR in July is UAH 11.05 per cubic meter.
As reported, NEURC transferred the authority to regulate the activities of heat supply enterprises from the state to the local level.
