At a government meeting on December 15, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that local budgets would receive UAH 26.9 billion to cover the difference in heat tariffs and pay off debts to Naftogaz.
Heat suppliers will also be able to start modernizing their facilities.
“The fulfilment of these conditions is stipulated in the Memorandum with the local authorities. The government is fulfilling its obligations. The city leaders, for their part, pledged not to raise tariffs for heat and hot water for people in this heating season,” Shmyhal said.
Also, according to the PM, the autumn-winter period is stable, there are enough energy resources in Ukraine, and tariffs for the population will not grow.
To recap, Ukrtransgaz is asking district heating companies to restructure billions in debts.
As reported, the Ministry of Regional Development began the process of restructuring district heating companies’ debts.
