The Chair of the Supervisory Board of NJSC Naftogaz on the reasons for the resignation

During the briefing, Chair of the Supervisory Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Clare Spottiswoode announced that she would perform her duties for another two weeks, Kosatka.Media reports.

It was reported today that three independent members of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz have resigned: Bruno Jean Gaston Lescoeur, Ludo Van der Heyden and Clare Mary Joan Spottiswoode.

Among the main reasons for the resignation, Spottiswoode named "bad relations with the company's board."

Also, she said, before there were two meetings with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and one with Head of Naftogaz Yurii Vitrenko.

“We cannot be effective in these circumstances. We make decisions, but they are not fulfilled, there are a lot of resignations of talented employees. The company is frozen,” Clare Spottiswoode said.

Bruno Lescoeur confirmed that the actual reason for the resignation was the impossibility of the Supervisory Board to make decisions because of their non-implementation.

Van der Heyden also clarified that before the meeting of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with US President Joe Biden, members of the Supervisory Board were asked “not to create any problems”, so they cannot be accused of “creating a problem” for resigning now.

To recap, on September 7, the Prime Minister announced that the competition for four members of the Supervisory Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine must be announced within a week.

As reported, at the end of April 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Yurii Vitrenko Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine instead of Andriy Kobolyev.

The letter of the Supervisory Board to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Head of the President's Office was also made public.
