The President created a working group to minimize threats from the construction of gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has created a working group to develop proposals to neutralize the risks posed by the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Kosatka.Media reports.

“Due to the construction of gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine and challenges in the energy sector, in particular the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project, which contains direct threats to national security and the security of the entire region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on September 16 signed order No. 545 / 2021-rp, which created a working group to develop proposals to neutralize the relevant risks, "- said in the message.

The working group should prepare proposals on measures to prevent and minimize negative consequences for the state from the construction of gas pipelines and develop proposals to reduce certain threats in the security and energy sectors.

Zelensky also approved the personal composition of the working group, led by the head of the President's Office Andrii Yermak. It included, in particular, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Yurii Vitrenko, Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksii Danilov.

According to the document, the head of the working group, if necessary, can make changes to its composition and involve representatives of executive authorities, scientific institutions, public associations, as well as independent experts in the work.
