The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the unbundling of Naftogaz

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the unbundling of Naftogaz. This was reported by the press service.

The government eliminated inconsistencies with the European standards and unblocked the signing of the law on the separation of the Ukrainian gas transmission system from Naftogaz.

“By adopting the law, we will bring Ukrainian energy legislation in line with European. Indeed, the requirements for the creation of a separate and independent GTS operator are stipulated by the law on the natural gas market and the Third Energy Package of the EU”, Prime Minister of Ukraine Olexiy Honcharuk commented the decision.

He also noted that the position of Ukraine in tripartite negotiations will become even stronger, and the state remains the sole owner of the GTS.

The unbundling of Naftogaz of Ukraine is necessary for Ukraine to be able to conclude a new agreement with Russia on gas transit according to the European rules.

Recall that in July Ukrtransgaz transferred the technical operation of the GTS of Ukraine to a subsidiary.

Earlier it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the separation of the GTS from Naftogaz.
