On Thursday the European Commission confirmed its position regarding Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The position is that it will have to obey the rules of the EU Energy Market. It is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
“With regard to Nord Stream 2 project, we want it to work in a transparent and non-discriminatory manner, with some degree of EU regulatory supervision, if it is completed, to follow the key principles of international and European law”, said Anna- Kaisa Itkonen at a briefing on Thursday.
She added that the EU now has clear rules for all pipelines that supply gas to the European market.
The representative of the European Commission did not comment on Denmark’s positive decision to lay pipes in its territorial waters.
Recall that the Danish Energy Agency granted a permit for the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
