Shmyhal said that preparations for the heating season are proceeding in accordance with the schedules

During a government meeting, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the readiness for the heating season is now more than 80%, everything is going according to the schedule, reports Ekonomichna Pravda reports.

He also says that the local authorities will decide when exactly the heating season starts.

“Also, local governments are now responsible for setting tariffs for heat and hot water. The government, as we promised, will continue to help local leaders and resolve the issue of compensation for district heating companies. Naftogaz offers gas for district heating companies at UAH 7.42 per cubic meter under a three-year contract,” Shmyhal added.

According to him, such a price "allows local leaders not to raise prices for heat for the population in this heating season."

Shmyhal also mentioned annual contracts for the supply of gas to the population.

“These contracts are working, all consumers were automatically transferred to them. In other words, the price that people paid in July or August, will pay it the same way in January and February. This is less than UAH 8 per cubic meter,” Shmyhal said.

As of September 1, the filling level of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities crossed the mark of 18 billion cubic meters.

"According to Ukrtransgaz’s data, we will approach the heating season with gas reserves of 19-20 billion cubic meters, which is enough for a reliable passage of the heating season," the Prime Minister summed up.

As reported, Kyivteploenergo will receive EUR140 million from the EBRD for the reconstruction of CHPs and boiler houses.
