Ukrgazvydobuvannya drilled a new exploration well in Poltava region
JSC Ukrgazvydobuannya drilled a new exploration well 6200 m deep at the Komyshnyanske field in Poltava region. Daily production figures are 165 thousand cubic meters of gas, according to the press service.
“The Komyshnyanske field is one of the assets that provide the country with gas today and has proven prospects for the future. In 2020-2021, we launched several successful superdeep production wells at the field, including one of them, hydraulic fracturing at a depth of 6000 m. These wells have already provided about 3 billion cubic meters of gas. We are also continuing exploratory drilling to unlock the potential of the northern and northeastern sections of the Komyshnyanske field. Difficult geology and significant depths are the challenges that our team of geologists, developers and technical specialists managed to overcome,” Oleksandr Romaniuk, Director of the Naftogaz Exploration and Production division said.
The Komyshnyanske field is an example of working with hydrocarbon deposits at significant depths, which are one of the company's strategic directions. In its portfolio, Ukrgazvydobuvannya has several fields with significant potential for increasing gas reserves at a depth of 5500 m. By intensifying geological research and prospecting and exploration drilling, the company plans to increase more than 30 billion cubic meters of gas reserves at these facilities.
