Ukrtransgaz received UAH 3.85 billion for corporate rights in the Ukrainian GTS Operator

Main Gas Pipelines of Ukraine transferred UAH 3.85 billion to Ukrtransgaz for corporate rights in the authorized capital of the Ukrainian GTS Operator, the press service reports.

This is the initial payment to the company as part of the contractual obligation to separate the natural gas transmission business.

On 01.01.2020, the unbundling was completed, as a result of which the Naftogaz Group was separated from the Naftogaz Group and the independence of the GTS Operator was ensured. The reform is the fulfilment of the obligations to comply with the requirements of the Third EU Energy Package, undertaken by Ukraine upon signing the Association Agreement with the EU.

If until 2020 the storage and transportation of natural gas by main gas pipelines were provided by Ukrtransgaz, then from January 1 of this year the company was finally divided into two separate legal entities: the operator of gas storage facilities (Ukrtransgaz), which remained part of the Naftogaz Group and the Operator of the gas transmission system ".

“Now almost a year has passed for the new operator, who confirmed that the enterprise is working smoothly, and, what is important, independently. Transparent and consistent unbundling has become a key factor in the further European integration of our state and the continuation of the transit of natural gas from the Russian Federation to the EU countries through the territory of Ukraine, ”the message says.

Earlier it was reported that for 11 months of 2020, the volume of gas transmission from Europe to Ukraine amounted to 15.6 billion cubic meters.
