Ukrtransgaz continues preparations for the heating season

The operator of Ukrainian gas storage facilities, Ukrtransgaz, replenished natural gas stocks in UGS facilities by 1 billion cubic meters during August 2021. As of September 1, the filling level of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities is more than 18 billion cubic meters, according to the press service.

It is planned to reach the level of more than 19 billion cubic meters.

As of September 1, 2021, foreign clients store 3.3 billion cubic meters of gas in the customs warehouse mode. This is 58% less compared to the same period last year. Of these, 2.6 billion cubic meters were accumulated in the short-haul mode.

Resident companies store 0.9 billion cubic meters in the Customs Warehouse mode, which is 1.4 times less than in the same period in 2020. Of these, the volume of gas injected into the UGS facility in the short-haul mode is 0.7 billion cubic meters.

“The current situation across the gas market is fundamentally different from last year, but we continue to move towards the predicted rate of filling Ukrainian storage facilities. Thus, by the beginning of the heating season, more than 19 billion cubic meters of gas will be pumped into the UGS facility. This is enough to pass the heating season stably. There are certain concerns related to the possible re-export of gas owned by non-residents. Regarding this, I can reassure you: in the four months of the 2021 injection season, non-residents re-exported 0.06 billion cubic meters. m. All other reserves are either sold on the Ukrainian market or remain in the UGS in the future,” noted Serhii Pereloma, acting General Director of Ukrtransgaz.

As reported, Ukrtransgaz does not intend to close gas storage facilities.
