Regulation of legal disputes between Naftogaz and Gazprom may preserve gas transit through Ukraine

Serhiy Prikhodko, the First Deputy Head of the Government Apparatus of Russia, said that in order to preserve the transit of gas through Ukraine after 2019, settlement of legal disputes is necessary.

“As for the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine, we are ready to preserve it on economically viable terms, but in the case of fair regulations of all legal disputes between Gazprom and NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine”, Prikhodko said.

He also said that the concept of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline does not provide for the cessation of transit along the existing routes and “it applies to both Ukraine and other countries”.

In turn, the Head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andriy Kobolyev, once again stressed that the company should “keep the opportunity to sue Gazprom”.
