During the conciliatory council of parliamentary factions and groups in the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the Cabinet of Ministers, together with the people's deputies, NEURC and gas suppliers, would soon prepare the basis for the annual tariff for gas suppliers, Ekonomichna Pravda reports.
“Ukraine is undoubtedly dismantling the remnants of the Soviet tariff setting system, moving towards an open market. The market is in the process of forming. The monthly product is not very fair for certain categories of citizens. Therefore, the government decided on the upper limit of the market price of UAH 6.99 per cubic meter from February 1,” the Prime Minister said.
According to him, the government is currently holding consultations “on creating the basis of an annual product in Ukraine soon.”
“Now the main one is the monthly product, while an annual one is convenient for the whole of Europe and the citizens of Ukraine. It is easy to predict and easy to calculate. People will be stressed when monthly prices change in one way or another, which is also difficult to predict,” Shmyhal said.
To recap, Yurii Vitrenko said that the Ministry of Energy had proposed a different gas price solution.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers officially published a decree on limiting gas prices for the population.
