The construction of the Baltic Pipe offshore section has been completed in Poland

The Polish company Gaz-System announced the completion of the construction of the offshore section of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline. According to the company, on November 18 the last weld was made on the gas pipeline, Evropeyska Pravda reports.

Gaz-System said that during the laying of the gas pipeline, all necessary crossings were made with the offshore infrastructure of third parties, and each of them was properly protected.

As part of the offshore work, two tunnels were also drilled at the landfalls of the gas pipeline. In Poland, the tunnel is about 600 meters long, and in Denmark, it is about 1000 meters.

Baltic Pipe is a gas pipeline project that is supposed to create a new route for the supply of natural gas from Norway to the markets of Denmark and Poland and to end consumers in neighbouring countries. The pipeline will be able to supply 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to Poland and 3 billion cubic meters from Poland to Denmark.

The gas pipeline should be ready to transport the first volumes of gas on October 1, 2022. The project's investors are transport operators: Danish Energinet and Polish Gaz-System.

As reported, Poland intends to abandon Russian gas until 2023.
