Washington promises to continue to oppose Nord Stream 2

US State Department spokesman Ned Price announced the unchanged position of Washington, which intends to continue to oppose the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, reports Evropeyskaya Pravda.

“Our policy, as we have very clearly explained, including in the context of the announcement of a joint statement with Germany a few months ago, we continue to oppose this pipeline,” he said.

According to him, the United States continues to believe that this is a geopolitical project of Russia.

The spokesman noted that the United States will continue to review and enforce the sanctions law against this project.

To recap:

Gazprom announced that the first line of Nord Stream 2 had begun to be filled with gas on October 4.

Russia believes that the change of power in Germany will not prevent the launch of Nord Stream 2.

The US House of Representatives on September 23 approved sanctions against Nord Stream 2.

In September, Volodymyr Zelenskyi created a working group to minimize threats from the construction of gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine.

In early September, the German regulator received documents for certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
