The head of NJSC “Naftogaz Ukrainy”, Andrei Kobolev, will give his salary from the beginning of February to the end of 2019 to charity.
Kobolev took this decision after the topic of his salary became “political”. “A lot of populist politicians begun to use it as a tool to discredit reforms and to increase their own rating in the year of double elections”, said Kobolev.
According to his words, he made the decision to give his salary (salary and bonuses) to charity. “Now the funds will be given in equal proportions to three organizations – “Narodny tyl” supporting the families of the dead warriors, “Vernis zhyvym” supporting the army, and “Tabletochki” to help children with cancer”.
In July 2018, the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv opened a criminal proceeding upon a payment by the Supervisory Council of the National Joint Stock Company “Naftogaz Ukrainy” of a premium of $46.3 million to employees of the company for winning the Stockholm arbitration.
During 2017, “Naftogaz” paid 214 million UAH as salaries and bonuses to management. These payments were received by six members of the board and nine directors of the board.
