Ukrtransnafta exposed two oil theft schemes
During September 21-23, the security service of Ukrtransnafta JSC together with law enforcement agencies exposed two schemes of oil theft from main oil pipelines – in Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. This was reported by the press service.
“On September 23, in the town of Dashava, Lviv region, law enforcement officers, with the participation of the Company's security service, during investigative actions detained five suspects in the theft of oil from the Brody-State Border pipeline.” At the place of detention, a Volvo truck with a 38 cubic meter tanker was found almost completely filled with oil and a Mercedes car with a makeshift tank in the back with a volume of 12 cubic meters. Also, three rubber containers with a total volume of 100 cubic meters, auxiliary equipment for theft of oil and the end of a three-kilometer branch laid in the direction of the Brody-State Border pipeline were found at the scene," the message says.
According to operational information, the complex of buildings where the suspects were detained and the instrument of the crime was found is leased by the Drohobych self-supporting branch of the interregional center for professional medical and social rehabilitation of disabled people.
Another case occurred on September 21 in the Dnipropetrovsk region near the town of Zhovti Vody. During operational activities using drones, the Company's security service employees, together with the patrol police, found a KamAZ vehicle without license plates, which was used to export stolen oil from the Kremenchug-Kherson main oil pipeline. During the inspection of the vehicle, they found a camouflaged tank with a capacity of 10 cubic meters. m and special equipment for theft of oil.
While inspecting the area of the hangar where KamAZ was based, law enforcement officers found two more Volvo trucks with unregistered identical license plates. The trucks are equipped with containers and a set of oil theft tools. In addition, other auxiliary equipment for pumping oil was found in the hangar.
For each of these cases of oil theft, investigative actions are ongoing.
Since the beginning of 2020, employees of the Naftogaz Oil division have discovered and eliminated 26 tie-ins in oil and condensate pipelines.
