Chinese PetroChina, a subsidiary of CNPC, discovered a large oil field in the Ordos basin. Its reserves amount to more than 1 billion tons. This is reported by Nefterynok.
The field was discovered in Gansu province.
Proven oil reserves reach 358 million tons, and expected reserves are estimated at 693 million tons.
It is expected that this year about 640 thousand tons of oil will be produced at the field, and in the near future the annual production volume will reach 3 million tons.
In addition, the company announced the discovery of a shale gas field in the Sichuan oil and gas basin. In Changning and Weiyuan counties, geological reserves of shale gas of 740.9 billion cubic meters were discovered. The company plans to extract 7.7 billion cubic meters of shale gas this year.
