$2 million worth of fuel stolen from a US military base In Romania,

The Romanian prosecutor's office found that members of an organized criminal group stole fuel worth $2 million over four years from a US military base in southeastern Romania, Euractiv reports.

According to prosecutors, fuel thefts began in 2017. Since then, they have detained seven people following an investigation.

The US Armed Forces have been using a military base near the Mikhail Kogalniceanu Airport since 1999.

The base is also home to other NATO military aircraft protecting the airspace in the Black Sea region.

As reported, the United States and Romania agreed to build the first small modular reactor in Europe.
