Zelenskyy offers owners of illegal refineries to legitimize business

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked law enforcement agencies to deal with illegal oil refineries. It is reported by UNIAN with reference to the press service.

Zelenskyy held a meeting with representatives of companies participating in the fuel market and filling stations on fuel prices and the fight against illegal oil refineries.

“The last examples that I saw were illegal refineries in Rivne and Kryvyi Rih. Therefore, I would like to ask law enforcement officers to pay attention to all illegal refineries”, he said during the meeting.

Zelenskyy also noted that the owners of illegal refineries will be able to legitimize their business:

“It would not be the same as before, - masked men rushed in and closed everything. But to warn people to formalize everything according to the law, so that everything will be done according to the law. And then let them work. The country should receive taxes from a legitimate business”.

Chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov said that the SBU is working on 10 oil refineries that operate illegally.

He noted that formally the majority of refineries operate according to the law, as they draw up documentation for the production of mixtures, rather than gasoline or diesel fuel, and thus evade the payment of excise duty.

To recap, Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed to spend $2.9 billion, which Naftogaz of Ukraine received from Gazprom, for the implementation of infrastructure projects and the development of medicine.
