The construction and installation work on the technical re-equipment of the systems for supplying, preparing and burning fuel with a switching of boiler units to the G and DG coal ranks was completed ahead of schedule, the press service of PJSC “Centrenergo” reported.
"Centrenergo" stressed that already five units of the enterprise, switched from anthracite to "gas" coal. Two units of the Tripilska TPP and two units of the Zmiivskaya TPP (Kharkiv region) were switched to the combustion of the "gas" group coal. In 2019, the company plans to eliminate anthracite from the fuel balance. Last year, consumption of anthracite coal was 0.4 million tons. "Centrenergo" used 2.2 million tons of anthracite in 2016 and 0.8 million tons in 2017.
Because of switching of block thermal power plants (TPP) to the coal of the "gas" group, over the past three years Ukraine has reduced the consumption of anthracite in 2.7 times - from 10.5 million tons in 2016 to 3.9 million tons in 2018. The Minister of Energy and Coal Mining, Igor Nasalik, said this during a speech in the Verkhnovna Rada on Friday.
As a result of switching of power plants to the "G" rank, there are 1.3 thousand MW of additional power generating capacity appeared in Ukraine. In 2019, about 1,000 MW are expected after switching of new planned blocks to “gas” coal.
