DTEK has agreed with the American company HC Trading (Heidelberg Cement Group) to supply two shiploads of American thermal coal to Ukraine. The total volume of agreements with the supplier is 150 thousand tons, the press service reports.
It is expected that coal will be delivered to Ukraine in two shiploads: the first in December 2021, the second in January next year.
This will be the company's second contract for coal imports from the United States. The first contract for the supply of 75 thousand tons of US thermal coal was signed with another supplier at the end of August.
New consignments of fuel are intended for the needs, first of all, of Zaporizhzhia, Ladyzhinska and other TPPs of DTEK Energy.
“There is less and less time left before the start of the heating season, so our company is doing everything possible to enter it with the maximum resource. To this end, we have intensified the repair campaign at our TPPs, open new longwalls and increase coal production at our mines. In addition, we were the first in Ukraine to start the advanced import of fuel from Poland, Kazakhstan and the United States. All for the sake of reliability and stability of the Ukrainian energy system, so that Ukrainians have light and warmth,” Ildar Salieiev, CEO of DTEK Energy said.
