Halushchenko: Ukraine will import coal if necessary

Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said that Ukraine would increase its coal stocks through its own production, but if necessary, the fuel will be imported, Ukrinform reports.

“We know how many stocks we have. We know how to increase them. As much as possible with own production. We will import the missing volumes,” Halushchenko said.

According to him, the volume of imports will depend on the balance of its own coal production. Prospective importing countries are Poland, South Africa, Kazakhstan.

In addition, Halushchenko said that the volumes of the new schedule for the accumulation of coal are being discussed.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Energy has been charged with making up a schedule for the accumulation of coal in warehouses.

Earlier, First Deputy Energy Minister Yurii Vlasenko said that the accumulation of coal in the TPP warehouses was behind the approved schedule.
