Germany may provide €20 million to a multifund for reforming the coal industry in Ukraine – Buslavets

Для реформирования угольной отрасли Украины Министр экономики и энергетики ФРГ Петр Альмайер считает необходимым создать соответствующий мультифонд, в который Германия готова сделать первый взнос в размере 20 млн евро, передает «Интерфакс-Украина».

To reform the coal industry of Ukraine, the Minister of Economy and Energy of Germany, Peter Altmaier, considers it necessary to create an appropriate multi-fund, to which Germany is ready to make the first contribution of €20 million, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany proposed to create a multi-fund. Germany is ready to make the first contribution of €20 million and calls on other countries to participate," the statement on the website of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine says.

According to the report, international partners have already expressed their interest in the implementation of pilot projects and the implementation of the reform of the coal industry as a whole.

Recall that in May this year, the Cabinet created a center for the transformation of coal regions. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the World Bank and Germany would provide expert and financial assistance to Ukraine to implement the project for a fair transformation of coal regions.

In July, Ukraine and Germany began negotiations on a pilot project to transform coal regions.

In October, the Department of Energy released the criteria for selecting mines for the transformation project.
