Gerus failed to solve the problem with blocked wagons with Russian coal

Representative of the President in the Cabinet of Ministers, Andriy Gerus, said that he was unable to agree with the participants in the blockade on unlocking wagons with Russian coal. On September 21, the police of Lviv region received notifications about the blocking of wagons by unknown persons at the Sosnovka railway station.

“I am returning to Kyiv positively. I am convinced that there will definitely not be any military actions in Sosnovka – I am passing the information on to the guys in place. And then I read in the evening... Mr. Semenchenko makes a new appeal – to seize railway stations and wagons also in Rivne region”, he wrote.

Gerus explained that Russian coal contains 13% of ash, and Lviv coal – 45% -55%: “but you can mix (Russian and Ukrainian coal – ed.) and take the largest amount of high-ash coal of Lvivuhillya to send to the power plant”.

According to Gerus, Centrenergo today buys coal from state mines at a price of 2.5 thousand UAH/t, while the price of imported coal is 1.8-1.9 thousand UAH/t (excluding VAT).

The Russian company owning the wagons has already assessed the Ukrainian company a fine for untimely return of wagons:

“Today it is 5 million UAH, and every new day this is an additional 1 million UAH to a fine. 20% of this, as income tax, will go to the state budget of the Russian Federation. A little strange fight with the aggressor”.
