The Ministry of Energy: Ukrzaliznytsia does not fulfill its obligations for the transportation of coal

Deputy Energy Minister Oleksii Kurakov held a meeting on the implementation of tasks for the extraction and shipment of coal products for the stable passage of the autumn-winter period 2021/2022, the press service reports.

The meeting participants discussed the situation with the production and supply of coal to thermal power plants.

“Today there is a difficult situation with the delivery of coal since Ukrzaliznytsya systematically does not fulfil the requests of coal mining enterprises and processing plants to provide gondola cars. We hope that this problem will be resolved in the near future. After all, the stable passage of the heating season, which will soon begin, depends on this,” noted Oleksii Kurakov.

Representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia assured that they will make every effort to increase the number of gondola cars for coal delivery.

Besides, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Energy, coal mining enterprises and thermal generation companies have to update the targets for the supply and accumulation of coal, taking into account the current state.

To recap, the Ministry of Energy asked the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to allocate UAH 2.1 billion to pay off wage arrears to miners.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the concept of the transformation of coal regions.
