The Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining should not manage state enterprises – Nasalik

The Minister of Energy and Coal Mining said that the Ministry should get rid of the functions of managing state-owned enterprises. At the meeting, held in accordance with the Action Plan for the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Program of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine for 2018-2020, the status of the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Ukraine (ЕІТІ), as well as the use of private energy supply organizations owned by the state were discussed.

“The Ministry should exclusively formulate energy policy and regulatory frameworks. Neither the economic activities of state enterprises, nor their property management should be coordinated by the Ministry, which will make any corruption risks impossible”, the Minister said.

Ihor Nasalik informed about the functions of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining and the sphere of responsibility, as well as the measures of the Ministry to reform the corporate governance of state-owned energy enterprises.

Specialists of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining provided information about the problems raised by the public. At the end of the meeting, they agreed to work together with the public on handling problematic issues and quickly resolving them.
