Naftogaz of Ukraine announced its readiness to import coal

NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is ready to help power generating companies with the coal imports in the case of a further decrease in its stocks, said the Head of the Board of the company Yurii Vitrenko, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“We, as Naftogaz, have offered our help to import coal in recent days, but so far, companies that produce electricity from coal cope with the situation even without this help,” said the Head of the company.

He also said that Naftogaz was supplying natural gas to CHPs in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Bila Tserkva TPPs to support the energy system.

On December 8, the SSU sent a letter to the Cabinet of Ministers, in which it expressed concern that a lack of coal could complicate the situation in the country.

On December 15, the Ministry of Energy submitted to the government an order on the purchase of gas for thermal power plants due to a lack of coal.
