Orzhel will discuss unprofitability of the industry with miners

Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel said at the Ukrainian Energy Forum that he would meet with miners and discuss the issue of unprofitable coal mining in Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrainian energy news.

“You have to be frank. In an hour, I will have to speak even harder and more frankly with people who work with the hard work of a miner, to say that this production is unprofitable. Saying that with the price that will be in the summer for gas, it’s easier for us to burn gas than to mine coal, ”the minister said.

To recap, during the presentation of the Green Energy Transition Strategy of Ukraine, Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel said that the coal industry would be a thing of the past.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Energy was preparing a large-scale program for the professional reorientation of miners as part of the transformation of the coal mining industry of Ukraine.
