Since the beginning of 2019, coal imports have declined by almost 9%
In January-March 2019, Ukraine reduced imports of coal and anthracite by 8.6% (by 495.98 thousand tons) compared to the same period of 2018 – to 5.25 million tons.
According to the State Fiscal Service, coal was imported by $740.09 million, which is 2.7% less than in January-March 2018 ($760.47 million).
Coal from Russia came in at $476.95 million (share in imports was 64.45%), the USA – $212.57 million (28.72%), Kazakhstan – $31.07 million (4.2%), other countries – $19.5 million (2.63%).
At the same time, exports in January-March amounted to 0.229 thousand tons of coal and anthracite for $0.04 million to Hungary.
It was reported earlier that from April 1, some state-owned coal mining enterprises was disconnected from the electricity supply due to the new rules for working at the retail electricity market.
