Ukraine and Germany began negotiations on the transformation of coal regions
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine informs that a working visit of the delegation headed by acting Energy Minister Olha Buslavets to Germany has begun.
The first working meeting was held at the level of deputy ministers and heads of departments in the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the Earth North Rhine-Westphalia with the participation of the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
We discussed the issues of restructuring coal mines, the development of "green" energy and innovation.
"It is important for Ukraine to discuss during the visit the issues of reforming the coal mining industry, transforming coal regions and get acquainted with the best experience of Germany in reforming the coal industry and transforming regions when mines are closed," the message says.
In the following days, the delegation will continue negotiations on coal issues and the prospects for the hydrogen economy.
Recall that in May this year, the Cabinet created a center for the transformation of coal regions. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said that the World Bank and Germany would provide expert and financial assistance to Ukraine to implement the project for a fair transformation of coal regions.
In July, Ukraine and Germany began negotiations on a pilot project to transform coal regions.
In October, the Department of Energy announced the selection criteria for mines for the transformation project.
