The unloading of the W-Ace bulk carrier has already started at the TIS terminal (Odesa region), the company said in a press release. Further, coal will be supplied to DTEK Energo thermal power plants.
“Today Ukrainian energy sector experiences situation when thermal power plants must replace the amount of electricity that other types of generation must produce”, the company said.
As it is known, the power unit No.1 of Khmelnitskyi NPP fell out of energy balance due to a transformer breakdown, and the power system lost 1000 MW.
According to Dmytro Sakharuk, DTEK Energo CEO, today the company has already contracted 388 thousand tons of coal from abroad.
Earlier, Maksym Timchenko, CEO of DTEK energy holding, noted that by the end of the year, the company's needs in imported coal amounted to about 1 million tons, taking into account already contracted volumes.
Recall that the energy holding intends to purchase 450 thousand tons of coal through trading on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange. But according to the results of two tenders, it has not succeeded yet.
As reported, by the beginning of September 2019, coal reserves in the warehouses of the PC TPP of Ukraine are 2.2 times lower than last year.
