The issue of Centerenergo's debt for coal has not yet been resolved – the Ministry of Energy

The Ministry of Energy and Centrenergo have not yet reached an agreement on settlements with state-owned coal enterprises for coal shipped, Economichna Pravda reports.

“The Ministry is constantly negotiating with the management of PJSC Centrenergo, which is related to the management of the State Property Fund, on facilitating settlements for shipped coal, but so far no agreements have been reached,” Acting Minister Olha Buslavets noted.

According to her, the new management of Centrenergo promised to set up a schedule for paying off debts to state mines.

“Now the Ministry is considering options for introducing a mechanism for selling coal to state enterprises at exchange auctions. This will make it possible to transparently set the market price, control product quality and streamline settlements between coal mining enterprises and heat generation and ensure the publicity of their relations,” said the Head of the Ministry.

Recall that Centrenergo has negative worth of UAH 1.4 billion.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the Government had decided that coal would become the main fuel for generating electricity in thermal power plants.

Earlier it was reported that the privatization of Centrenergo was planned for the second quarter of 2021.
