The development of renewables in the 2nd quarter of 2019

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, 656 MW of renewables were commissioned in Ukraine. This figure is 6 times higher than in the same period last year (109.6 MW were commissioned in the 2nd quarter of 2018). Thus, at the end of the 2nd quarter, the capacity of renewable sector in Ukraine reached the mark of 3634.4 MW. 

In April-July 2019, commissioning of each particular type of renewables was as follows:

+ 568.3 MW of SPPs (by 5.5 times more than in the same period last year);
+ 71 MW of wind farms (by 22 times more);
+ 15.9 MW of biogas stations (by 53 times more);
+ 0.8 MW of small HPPs. 

It is worth noting that the average unit capacity of commissioned renewables was 6.4 MW.

In the structure of commissioning of capacities by regions, the leaders are:
- Zaporizhzhia region – 152 MW;
- Mykolaiv region – 132 MW;
- Kyiv region – 76.3 MW.

In general, in the first half of 2019, the total capacity of commissioned renewables amounted to 1517.1 MW, in Ukraine. Of these, 1252.1 MW – SPPs, 243.7 MW – wind farms, 20.4 MW – biogas stations and 0.9 MW – small HPPs.
