How many taxes renewables and coal generation have paid for 10 years

Renewable sources and coal generation are the producers of the most expensive electricity in Ukraine. At the same time, renewables are accused of abusing coal generation.

However, in addition to electricity prices, there is also taxes that enterprises paid. We compared the numbers.

Both sectors paid the largest amounts as VAT, corporate income tax and personal income tax.

In 2016, renewable energy sources began to pay land tax by 5 times more – UAH 271.5 million vs 43.5 million in 2015. And in 2019 this tax for alternative generation was UAH 331.2 million. For coal generation, the land tax increased less than 2 times: UAH 46.5 million in 2015 and UAH 70.9 million in 2016. And in 2019, they paid UAH 97.7 million of taxes for land.

However, renewables did not pay the environmental tax. But coal generation had to pay it for a decade in the amount of UAH 14,721,250.68 – this is a third of all their tax revenues for 10 years.
