Guaranteed Buyer announces the absence of quotas and the necessary solutions for conducting “green” auctions

Guaranteed Buyer reported that a number of documents necessary for announcing and holding “green auctions” have not been approved. In particular, the corresponding support quotas for their distribution for 2020 have not been established.

“Green” auctions for the distribution of annual support quotas are held twice a year – no later than April 1 and October 1, respectively, of the year by a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

“If the entire necessary package of documents and the technical readiness of the electronic trading system are approved, the Guaranteed Buyer, as the customer of the auction, will announce and make public the terms and conditions of the first auction in accordance with all requirements of the law”, the statement said.

To recap, from January 1, 2020, Ukraine is changing the support system for “green energy” – instead of a fixed feed-in tariff, auctions will be held to determine the price of electricity, which will be generated by new capacities.

Over the next 5 years, it is planned to put up 3 GW of “green” generating capacities at auctions.

The Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection has developed a project for the transition to auctions. It proposes annually by October 30 to submit information on quotas for the construction of new renewables for auctions.

Earlier it was reported that the government made a decision that allows conducting “green” auctions through Prozorro.Sales.
