In 3 months, from July to September 2019, the capacity of renewable energy sources in Ukraine increased by 1 GW – from 3.6 GW to 4.6 GW (+ 27.8%). During this period, 94 new solar power plants (792 MW of total installed capacity), 6 wind farms (200 MW), 3 biomass stations (5 MW) and 4 small hydro power plants (3 MW) were built in Ukraine.
The total investment in these projects exceeded 900 million euros.
In general, from January to September 2019, the capacity of renewable energy sources in Ukraine increased by 2.55 GW, which is 410% more than the same period last year (0.49 GW).
As of September 26, 2019, the total capacity of solar power stations in Ukraine exceeded 3.29 GW (+117% compared to January 1, 2019), and the capacity of wind farms, according to the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA), reached 793 MW (+ 48 8 % until January 1, 2019), the capacity of small hydropower plants as of September 26, 2019 is 104 MW (+7.2% until January 1, 2019), and the increase in power plants producing energy from biomass also amounted to almost 12% – up to 94 MW.
According to the forecast of the IB Center expert group, by the end of 2019, Ukrainian and foreign developers will implement more than 40 new investment projects in the field of renewable energy in Ukraine with a total installed capacity of more than 450 MW.
