ASEU announced night restrictions of solar farms

According to the members of the Association of Solar Energy of Ukraine (ASEU), dispatchers of the OSR and OSB provided commands to unload the "green" generation for four days in a row – on May 1, 2, 3 and 4.

For the first time, the command for full unloading (up to 0% of the installed capacity) of solar stations in the Kherson region came from dispatchers at night – on May 1 at 3:20 am and lasted until 4:55 p.m.

It is noted that the reason for such commands is “for operational security reasons”.

On Sunday, May 2, dispatch restrictions occurred throughout Ukraine and began at 5:30 am and continued until approximately 6:30 p.m. on a scale from a complete shutdown of solar generation to a 20% restriction.

Also, similar restrictions on renewable energy occurred during the day on May 3 and 4 throughout Ukraine.

“As the market participants note, the dispatchers of the OSB have a tool to apply the service to reduce the load of renewable energy sources, which is regulated by the acts of the NEURC and is paid. OSB, on the other hand, unloads renewable energy sources based on violation of operational security, which can be carried out in an exceptional manner, when all available measures have already been applied. The systematic use of the unloading command for reasons of "operational security" means the inaction of the PCB, which consists of not using the service of unloading from renewable energy sources, which leads to losses for market participants. According to the legislation, deliberately causing losses must be compensated by the party guilty of such losses - therefore, renewable energy producers are already preparing today to collect losses incurred from OSB in court,” the statement says.
