Biogas station with a capacity of 635 kW will be launched in Kropyvnytsky

The station will be launched in mid-July at the city landfill of solid waste. The project is implemented by LNK LLC.

Now 48 wells have been drilled at the site, which are connected by gas pipelines.

The electricity produced will be sold at a “green” tariff. According to preliminary calculations, a biogas station will produce up to 5080 kWh of electricity per year, which can meet the energy needs of 1400 people during the year. The total cost of the project is about €1.9 million.

“Methane, which from 30 to 60% is part of the biogas of the landfill of municipal solid waste, is one of the six most dangerous gases for the ozone layer and provokes the greenhouse effect”, said the Director of Ecostyle LLC Serhiy Makarov. “In turn, biogas, which includes methane, allows producing electricity and solving an environmental problem”.

As noted by the city council secretary Andriy Tabalov, who checked the general condition of the contents of the city dump, decontamination of the landfill will significantly improve the overall environmental situation in the city, eliminate the risk of fire at the landfill and free residents from unpleasant odors.

Now the arrangement of the degassing system is at the final stage. At the moment, the main types of construction and installation works have been completed, commissioning processes took place. Installations will be fully commissioned after obtaining the necessary permits – approximately in a month.
