340 MW wind farm will be built in New York

Invenergy LLC has prepared a project of a 340 MW wind farm in New York, Ecotown reports.

The State Electricity and Environment Council approved the project.

The wind farm will be equipped with 116 wind turbines, which will occupy 12 thousand hectares southeast of Buffalo. The wind farm will be able to provide electricity to 134 thousand households.

Alle-Catt’s income will be up to $78 million in local property taxes for 20 years, and local governments will receive $3.2 million per year in tax payments.

Investments in the project will amount to $454 million.

So far, the largest wind farm in New York is the Canisteo wind farm with a capacity of 290 MW, which is installed in Steuben.

New York has set a goal of achieving zero carbon emissions in the electricity sector by 2040.
