The Swedish logistics company Speed Group plans to build the largest rooftop solar farm in the northern region of Europe, Ecotown reports.

The solar farm will occupy an area of 11 football fields, and will produce 4 GWh of electricity per year. Installation of the structure is planned to be completed this year.

Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the new warehouse complex and the head office of Speed Group. The main office of the company is located near the city of Borås in western Sweden. New building with an area of 83,000 square meters is planned to be fully commission by May 2020.

“The goal of the initiative is to enable Speed Group’s main office to meet its energy needs and make its new warehouse CO2-neutral. According to the company's management, this will make Speed Group's offer attractive not only in terms of logistics, but also in terms of ecology”, the company notes.

It was previously reported that in 2020, the cargo terminal in Sweden would switch to renewable energy sources.
