Offshore wind farm with a capacity of 500 MW will appear in Japan

125 wind turbines with a capacity of 4 to 9.5 MW are planning to be installed in the wind farm.

Aomori Nishikita Offshore Wind Power Joint Company – a joint venture of Hitachi Zosen Corporation and Eco Power – presented plans to build an offshore wind farm with a total capacity of 500 MW, located off the coast of the Japanese Aomori prefecture.

Japan’s offshore wind generation is currently under development. In December 2018, a draft law to promote the use of the country's territorial waters for the development of offshore wind generation was adopted. The development of a tender-based selection system demonstrates the willingness of the Japanese government to make long-term investments in the sector.

It was reported earlier that the largest wind farm on the territory of an artificial lake is being builtin the Netherlands. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2021.
